Hi folks,

any idea what´s the matter here? Machine is thin provisioned and doesn´t really look different to others that get backed up. Mode is SSH with Standard Edition.

VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit: VMware Virtual Disk Manager - build 774844
VMware Virtual Disk Manager response for Hard disk 1: [datastore1] LYNCED/LYNCED-000002.vmdk:
SSL_VerifyCbHelper: Certificate verification is disabled, so connection will proceed despite the error
[NFC ERROR] NFC_CANCELLED
Failed to convert disk: The command completed successfully (0x700004650).
Unable to complete backup. Unable to verify successful transfer of virtual machine virtual disk file \\DISKSTATION\backup\vBackup\Win Srv 2012 - LYNCED\140914_210752\LYNCED-000002.vmdk.

Anything new on this? You might try running the job in interactive mode (via vBackup Client with debug break set to after) to see if any additional information is included in the console output. Please reply with your findings.

I am seeing this issue also.

Output is:

VMware Virtual Disk Manager response for Hard disk 1: [datastore3] Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) OAS/Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) OAS.vmdk:
SSL_VerifyCbHelper: Certificate verification is disabled, so connection will proceed despite the error
[NFC ERROR] NFC_CANCELLED
Failed to convert disk: The command completed successfully (0x700004650).
E Unable to complete backup. Unable to verify successful transfer of virtual machine virtual disk file E:\VMBackups\Running\newt\Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) OAS\141020_085430\Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) OAS.vmdk.
Temporary snapshot removed.
Backup data folder deleted in cleaning up after job failure.

I'm running latest full release version of vBackup multiple against ESXi 5.5.0 (Build 1331820) and am backing up ~20VMs on a by-nightly cycle. All other VMs backup successfully. This VM has been backing up via same mechanism for ~2 years.

No additional output when run from console with After break set.

I could really do with some feedback on this. The VM has been backed up on a regular basis for the past 2 years. There have been no major changes to the VM or my ESXi infrastructure. The backup simply starting failing last week and now refuses to complete regardless of whether the VM is on or off or whether I remove the previous (successful) backup.

Tried to move the VM to another disk but move failed with what looks like a file lock.

Built new VM via the Restore option using a week old backup and so far the new VM appears to backup successfully.

It looks as though the underlying disk has an issue but there are several other running VMs on the disk which backup just fine.
