Hi,
I am using Vbackup 0.3.2.4478 and having trouble trying to restore a backup to a host server. I get the following error when executing the restore wizard.

Unable to upload configuration (VMX) file for new virtual machine to datastore. ash: /sbin/sftp-server: not found
unable to to initialise SFTP: could not connect.

Hypervisor 4.1 does not support SFTP so I am unsure why vBackup is trying to connect to it via SFTP not SCP.

Any help is much appriciated.

Kind Regards,
Will

Found a fix.
Just install sftp to hypervisor!

cd /sbin
wget http://thebsdbox.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/sftp-server.tar.gz
tar xzvf sftp-server.tar.gz
rm sftp-server.tar.gz

Solved.

Good catch. Thank you for working through this and finding a solution.

We have found the issue and have made the required changes to force SCP to be the protocol used.

This change will be available in the next release.

Thank you,

vBackup Team

I'm using vBackup Client 4.0.0.4728 (vbackup 4.0.0.2708) with ESXi 4.1

The problem is still there in that release so it doesn't look like this change made it into the next release - or it did, but didn't get verified.

This issue has been corrected in version 4.0.1 (as of pre-release 2). You can download this pre-release of version 4.0.1 from the vBackup downloads section on our website.

PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to uninstall version 4.0. Just download the version 4.0.1 PR2 zip file and follow the instructions in the included readme.txt.
