After numerour attempts I eventually got V5 to work in a reasonable time and it works perfectly when run from the GUI. However I set the schedule, as per the manual, to run the backup jobs over night and I get a licensing Error telling me that "Installed licence is not licenced for this machine". This is followed by a windows Failed Logon error. I am using the same credentials that V4 use and I am haveing no issue with the V4 version running as a schedlued task. Any ideas?

Ron,

Please see "note 4" on page 22 of the v5.0.1 admin guide. I bet this is what you are running into.

Note 4: If the Thinware vBackup server is a member of an Active Directory domain all non-interactive user sessions (such as user sessions created by scheduled tasks) must use a domain user account when using Thinware vBackup to execute backup jobs. Failure to set scheduled tasks to run under a domain user account may cause backup jobs to fail due to licensing errors.

Also, please tell us more about your setup. You should be able to get much better than "reasonable" backup speeds with the latest version of vBackup. Maybe we can provide some pointers.

Hi, yes I already got the answer as similar to the above from your fabulous support team by mail. I posted here on account of the time difference and hoped somebody had a quick fix. Hope I didnt wake you guys up early!!

When I say reasonable what I was referring to was an earlier issue, again remedied with assistance from yourselves where by backups were taking days to complete. I am now getting a better performance than the V4 so will continue using V5 now that it is working!!

Thanks.

R.
