The error you are getting from VMware Virtual Disk Manager is “Can't create connection”. I know this sounds strange, but VMware Virtual Disk Manager in VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) 6.0.x is not compatible with ESXi 6.0.x. You actually need to use VDDK 5.5 (we recommend version 5.5.4).

Also, the versioning system that VMware uses is a little misleading as well. Actually the version of the APIs you use is based on the integration solution, not the vSphere version. We built vBackup 4.x on VMware Virtual Disk Manager in VDDK 5.5.4 and VMware Disk Mount in VDDK 5.1.4. Starting with vBackup 4.0.1 you have the ability to specify a different version of VDDK to be used for VMware Virtual Disk Manager and VMware Disk Mount.

The best process for installing VDDK we have found is as follows:

1) Download and install VDDK 5.1.4 using all of the default settings. VDDK 5.1.4 will install to C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\Virtual Disk Development Kit.

https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=VSP510-VDDK-514&productId=285

2) Download and unzip VDDK 5.1.4 to C:\Temp\VMware-vix-disklib-5.5.4-2454786.x86_64, then copy C:\Temp\VMware-vix-disklib-5.5.4-2454786.x86_64 to C:\Program Files.

https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=VDDK554&productId=353

3) Once you have vBackup installed set the "VMware Virtual Disk Manager Application Directory" setting to: "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware-vix-disklib-5.5.4-2454786.x86_64\bin", uncheck "Use same application directory for VMware Disk Mount" and set the "VMware Disk Mount Application Directory" setting to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit\bin".

Hope this helps.

i Tips:
- Even though an SSL certificate error was encountered, certificate verification is disabled causing the error to be ignored. To correct certificate verification error(s), install a valid CA-signed certificate on your host server and install a valid CA-signed root certificate on your vBackup server.
- The 'NFC read' error is caused by a limitation in VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) and how VDDK handles reading and writing thick-provisioned virtual disks. This then effects host servers licensed with Thinware vBackup Standard Edition (and Advanced and Professional Editions when a backup job's compression level setting is set to none). To resolve this, for Thinware vBackup Advanced and Professional Editions, simply set the backup job's compression level to basic or advanced. For Thinware vBackup Standard Edition, the virtual machine's virtual disk(s) must be converted to thin-provisioned (backup of thick-provisioned virtual disks is not supported with Thinware vBackup Standard Edition).
E Unable to complete backup. Unable to verify successful transfer of virtual machine virtual disk file W:\vSRV01-SUSELinux\161213_030049\vSRV01-SUSELinux.vmdk.
Connection to server timed out during backup process. Connection must be reestablished in order to remove temporary snapshot (this is not an error).
Connection to server reestablished successfully.
Temporary snapshot removed.
Temporary files successfully removed.
Backup data folder deleted in cleaning up after job failure.
Process Completed: 13. 12. 2016 4:58:08
Elapsed Time: 1 hour, 57 minutes and 47 seconds

The first two disks backuped, but 3rd disk cannot be backuped.

Can you help me?
