Good Afternoon,

I have yet to get a successful backup. I am using the advanced license (with basic compression) on my thick provisioned VMs. the operation fails with the error:
E Unable to complete backup. Unable to verify successful transfer of virtual machine virtual disk file B:\AD-01.domain.lan\160530_172216\AD-01.domain.lan.vmdk.
Temporary snapshot removed.

I'm using VDDK 5.1

Thank you,

Gary

Hi,

We would need more information from the log entry in order to diagnose the problem. Can you please reply with the full log entry (or full console output)?

Here is the log. There are certificate errors, but i have it set to ignore those.

Thank you very much!

That helps quite a bit. The "real" error you are getting is:

[NFC ERROR] NfcFileDskWriteDataHelper: Write failed curSector = 19530432,numSectors = 512 : There is not enough space on the file system for the selected operation (13)
[NFC ERROR] Write failed curSector = 19530432, numSectors = 512 :There is not enough space on the file system for the selected operation (13)
[NFC ERROR] NfcFile_Receive: write failed. expected 261984, got -1
[NFC ERROR] NFC_FILE_ERROR

Basically, you do not have enough free space on the backup target to save the backup.

Try one of the following to resolve this error:

1) Backup to a storage target that has more free space or clean up the current backup target to free up addition space.

2) Re-zero the virtual disks of the VM you are trying to backup - this may reduce the size of the backup depending on the amount of data on disk that was once deleted. If the VM is Windows-based you can use SDelete from Sysinternals (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sdelete).

Hope this helps! Please let us know.

Thank you for your response.

There is plenty of space (around 10Tb) on the destination drive. the VM in question is only about 100Gb, so there should be plenty of room.

Gary
