I've been trying for two weeks to get one VM to backup with Thinware.
Do you think enabling Jumbo Frames between VM and iSCSI SAN will fix this issue?
I do have a thick 80Gb provisioned VM saving it to a 400Gb local drive on the 64-bit backup server that has Thinware installed. I have compression set to none b/c I have a standard license. Just wonder if anyone else has been able to resolve this issue without spending an arm and leg.
Thanks.

I know your thread is over a year old, but I wanted to post my experience in case it helps anyone else out there with Thinware.

We were getting this same error when trying to backup our file server which has a 4TB thin-provisioned or thick-provisioned disk (we tried both). Eventually we ran into some other issues with our iSCSI shared storage and decided to increase the MTU to 9000 on both the ESX host NICs that are used for iSCSI and the NICs on our shared storage (QNAP Turbo), also required enabling jumbo frames on the switch (obviously). Once we did this, Thinware was able to backup our file server no problem.

If you have tried everything else suggested by support, and are still getting this error, I would suggest looking at your iSCSI throughput.

Hope it helps!
