The error message i'm receiving is "Unable to load datastore. Root element is missing." This is the second time this has happened. The only way I got things to work was by uninstalled, re installing and setting everything backup. We currently have 23 servers and are adding 5 more to the backup list soon so it's a pain if every week I would have to go through this process over and over. Please let me know if there is a fix.

So in C:\Program Files (x86)\Thinware\VBackup\vbackup.xml file gets wiped to 0kb. I had a backup of the server that is running Thinware and was able to restore the file from a couple days ago that had all the servers configured correctly. Replaced that and everything came back.

Any thoughts to why this keeps getting wiped out?

Is the vBackup.xml file getting cleared every time a scheduled backup job runs? What if you simply run the backup job via vBackup Client?

We have never heard of this before. Can you tell us a little more about the server vBackup is installed on?

Was this machine repurposed or built from scratch to host vBackup?

Are you running any type of antivirus on the vBackup server?

Are there any other applications installed?

Do you have another machine that you can install vBackup on (preferably that you can perform a clean install of Windows on first)?

Thank you,

vBackup Team
