I have recently upgraded to vBackup v5.0 and after resolving some licensing issues I appear to be getting backups to run. In saying that they are taking an eternity, seemingly stuck on 45% progress and taking an age to build up the backup, even on a small machine. FYI I am using VMware v 6 and SCP as a transfer protocol. No compression. I am unable to complete tests during the day as the backups are taking so long and so far overnight runs have failed on me for various reasons. I have installed the recommended VMware disk manager utilities and have tried various settings. Can anybody point me to an effective set up or tell me if similar issues have been corrected previously. Thanks.

What happens if you change the host server's data transfer protocol to NFC?

I get an error stating that HTTPS-NFC data transfer is incompatible with non-compressed (thick provisioned) disk format.

Can you change the compression level to thin-provisioned (basic compression)?

Note: Thick-provisioned (no compression) with NFC was not blocked in Thinware vBackup 4.0.x, however due to limitations in VMware Virtual Disk Manager this often resulted in error (error documented here). Because of this, this configuration (no compression with NFC) is not allowed in Thinware vBackup 5.0.0.

I have tried all the settings now and cannot get V5 to work at all. As the backups (if they do appear to run) take forever I haven't the time or resources to test them sufficiently. I tried running mon a schedule overnight but this comes up with a licencing error (even though they do appear to start ok when run manually). Eventually after 2 weeks of no backups I reinstalled v4 and it works fine for me. I may revisit in the future but at present I will keep using what I know works. I will have to delay the upgrade to VMware 6.5 however.
